As I sit here reflecting on my career as a librarian, I can clearly remember the moment I fell in love with libraries. When I was 11 years old, I rode my bike every Saturday to the library. I would take a packed lunch and spend the entire day camped out in the children’s section. After a few weeks, the Library Director introduced himself and he and I would sit eating our lunches together and talking about what I had recently read. I don’t remember his name, but I will always remember the time he spent with me that summer and how he inspired and encouraged my love of books.
