Both DemographicsNow! and DemographicsNow! Business and People have new tools and new EZ reporting great for start-ups and small business.
Enhancements to DemographicsNow include the following:
- New EZ Report: Sizing Your Market— Calculates the market size based on geography selections and expenditure variables to see which local areas may have a need for a certain type of business.
- User inputs up to 25 geographies and a customized Census Area Projections and Estimates (CAPE) variable tree with current year estimates and 5 year projections.
- The output report contains:
- Bar chart comparing the average expenditure ($) of user selected geographies
- Number of households in the geography
- Average expenditure per household
- Market Size
- Users can now save and upload report templates with custom variables.
- Users can edit report titles that display on the preview screen and the downloaded version of a custom report.
- Link to CAPE variables spreadsheet.
- Thematic coloring default turned off.

- Choose a Location—Displays information about competitors around up to 5 potential business locations including number of competitors, competitor’s sales total, and the number of out-of-business companies.
- User inputs geographies and the NAICS code or description. They can also filter other criteria, including locations out-of-business.
- The output report contains:
- A business report for each geography, including market size, competitors’ sales total, number of competitors, and number of out-of-business companies.
- A map of competitors for each location and an optional custom report and Demographic Detail Comparison Report.
- Assess Market Risk—Compares up to 4 potential business types with key competitor information and out-of-business companies.
- User inputs up to 4 geographies and business types.
- The output is a bar chart showing the percent of business failures for each business type and geography and a report for each selected geography and the entire US with:
- Number of business failures
- Total businesses
- Percent (%) of failures
- Business Failure % for the entire US’
