Gale Continues to Add MLA Citations

The Modern Language Association changed their citation format rules in the MLA Handbook, 7th edition, published in March, 2009.   Since then, Gale has been working toward upgrading all Gale products currently offering MLA 6 citations to MLA 7 citation format.

PowerSearch and InfoTrac products were released with MLA 7 updates in October, 2009, and now Gale has released MLA 7 updates into these products:

Easy access to standards-based source citations saves students valuable time and strengthens the authority of their work, by demonstrating that others’ opinions and ideas were considered as part of forming our own.  Citations also provide the reader valuable information, indicating where he or she may learn more about the topic.

Within our upgraded products, the MLA 7 citation appears as the Source Citation at the bottom of each document and as the MLA 7 citation option through the Citation Tools path.

Library eBook platform in May, including the addition of ReadSpeaker
technology and subject guide searching!

ReadSpeaker allows users to select any portion of text or an
entire article to be streamed as audio. With a click of a button, the text from
a Gale Virtual Reference Library
article can be read aloud via the user’s computer, making it accessible in a
new way. These audio segments can also be saved as MP3 files for use on MP3
players for listening at a later time.

Once Subject Guide searching is enabled, your users will be
able to search subjects across your entire Gale
Virtual Reference Library collection delivering
results beyond the basic keyword and title search options.
