Gale Announces New iPhone Application

Gale has launched the AccessMyLibrary (AML) mobile application for the iPhone – making access to library research just a click away on a mobile phone!

Gale’s new application helps iPhone users find their local library and then access the vast array of information that the library has purchased on their behalf, using a Web-product to make the connection.

The AML app finds your global position and locates libraries within a ten-mile radius, giving you instant access to electronic resources at any time. Your library comes to you!

With AccessMyLibrary, the iPhone becomes a valuable research tool, bringing the electronic collection of resources to users wherever they are, as well as locating local libraries where they can go to get even more information.

The free Gale iPhone application can be downloaded at the iTunes store today.

Gale Provides Access to H1N1 Information

In an effort to make reliable, expert information regarding the H1N1 virus, commonly known as the swine flu, readily available, Gale is extending our free access to Global Issues in Context and dozens of eBooks from the Gale Virtual Reference Library.

Because H1N1 is still such a prevalent issue, we’re allowing indefinite access to our widget, which provides access to information regarding the H1N1 virus. The widget is available for everyone—not just Gale customers. Those who do not have a location ID can install the widget using the guest access code, “h1n1guest.”

Librarians can install a widget (http://www.gale.cengage.com/flu/) to their homepage, Facebook page or blog, allowing their community to access the information at the library or from any computer with an Internet connection.

Free access to online resources during National Library Week

Gale is offering open access to some of its most highly praised online resources through May 15, 2009. Librarians are encouraged to visit www.gale.com/libraryweek to download a free widget and install it on their library’s homepage to give library users single-click access to online resources like Gale Directory Library and Global Issues in Context.
