Gale is on a mission to double the usage of our databases within the next 12 months. One library, Tampa-Hillsborough County Public Library in Florida, is making this wish come true. In fact, by adding a PowerSearch search box to their home page, they saw their usage increase by twenty times. Yes, that’s right… twenty!
Because of this, we have created a new widget to allow you to add this search box easily. Simply visit the site below, enter your location ID (found at the end of the URL when you access our databases), and voila! – you instantly have the HTML code you need to add to your page to make a search box appear. You can customize the box as well to fit your website’s color scheme. This will easily draw attention to all your resources and make searching library databases as accessible as Google. If you want to expand PowerSearch to search your catalogue and other vendor databases, you can.
Here’s the site: access.gale.com/pse
The numbers speak for themselves:

Please share your success stories. We’d love to hear them.

Thanks for the note, Anne. We are currently updating our flash presentation to highlight a new look and feel for Powersearch coming this Summer. We’ll get the link working for you shortly. Apologize about the inconvenience.
Adding the widget was very easy–thank you! Though, I notice that the PowerSearch Tour link takes users to a technical page for systems administrators. It would be very helpful if the link pointed to a Flash presentation geared to first-time end-users.
I added the new power search but I was wondering how to customize it. I want to say what it is for, where do I input that at in the code for it to display properly.
Thanks
Great question, Nicole. Adding the PowerSearch box will allow you to access all your Gale resources, including Literature Resource Center and Biography Resource Center. You can even have it access the other vendor databases you mentioned, your catalogue and any website you choose. This is through PowerSearch Plus. You can find out more about Powersearch Plus at http://www.gale.com/powersearch.
Thanks!
Nice widget and search feature. However….am wondering how this affects usage stats of other proprietary databases in a library’s collection? (Literature Resource Center, Biography Resource Center, World Book, EBSCO Host, Newsbank, New York Times, etc.)
Great stuff.. technically, they put their link on their catalog & database “home page,” not the Library’s home page.. that’s at

Of course, they could do both.. great marketing tip and thanks for the widget…
