Gale Announces GREENR

From global warming, to food safety, to the impact of economic development on international relations, today’s environmental issues are shaping the future.

GREENR (Global Reference on the Environment, Energy, and Natural Resources), is a new electronic resource from Gale, offering authoritative reference content in the area of the environment, energy and natural resources.

Watch for it – Summer 2009.  GREENR focuses on the academic study of sustainability and the environment.   It is a one-stop site with news, background information, video, unique commentaries, primary source documents and statistics.

One of the things that makes GREENR so user-friendly is it does not look like a database product – you view content in a way that resembles the open Web.

GREENR also offers:

  • Interactive maps, allowing users to browse by country or topic

  • Opportunities for forums, networking and open discussion, allowing students and teachers to participate in general forums or those designed for specific classes

  •  Localization to highlight community resources, allowing libraries to  advertise their assets as well as upcoming local events

  • Web 2.0 tools to facilitate content portability and community building

  1. Please check out what the Water School is doing in Africa using the UV rays of the sun to purify drinking water for those without access to good water. (Which is 99% of Africans)
Thanks to the folks at FreeCause.com, The Water School has access to an incredible “passive revenue” generating tool. This is an incredible opportunity for us and it is a very easy way for you to support our work to bring clean water to kids in Africa and the Developing World.
You can download it at: http://download.freecause.com/?toolid=59595
It is a toolbar that automatically installs to your web-browser. Each time you use it – to do a websearch, etc. – it generates revenue for TWS (based on internet traffic – don’t ask me much more than that!). So, the more people who use it, the more $$ is sent to TWS.
It would really help us out A LOT, if you could:
    1. Download it personally and use it
    2. Put a link to it on your website encouraging others to download and use it
    3. Send an email out to your client/email/friend list encouraging them to download and use it
Email me at mpenner@thewaterschool.org or visit our website at http://www.TheWaterSchool.org for more information.
    peace,
    Myron
FYI: As per the conversation below, the toolbar is Mac or PC compatible with Firefox or Explorer
