How can your library transform lives in your community? Connect your patrons to an accessible, award-winning high school completion program.

Gale Presents: Excel Adult High School is a platinum winner in the 2023 Modern Library Awards (MLAs).

Excel Adult High School allows libraries to give their adult patrons the opportunity to earn accredited high school diplomas through a 100 percent online, tuition-free program. With this program, your library can help create bright futures for adults in your community.

What Are the MLAs?

LibraryWorks created the Modern Library Awards to recognize the top products and services in the library industry. The MLAs are judged by more than 80,000 librarians at public, K-12, academic, and special libraries nationwide to ensure an unbiased, informed assessment. Products are evaluated by functionality, value, customer service experience, and the librarian’s overall satisfaction.

Platinum win for Excel Adult High School demonstrates the program’s accessibility and effectiveness for adult patrons at libraries nationwide.

What Did Librarians Say About Excel Adult High School?

Librarians agree Excel Adult High School presents life-changing opportunities for adults in their communities. Read a few of the comments from MLA judges who have seen success introducing the high school completion program to their patrons.

“This has been one of the most impactful platforms/resources we’ve ever offered to our customers. It truly changes their lives—their earning potential, career choices, and their self-confidence. The program is well designed and internal customer service is outstanding.” –MLA Judge

“This is a great product that allows libraries to assist those who want a high school diploma but struggle with testing or a traditional “night class” approach. There are also opportunities to partner with other funding agencies to purchase scholarships for students. Another benefit is getting credits for years of high school completed and any equivalency tests already passed. We have had one graduate and have four more getting close. It is a different kind of library resource, focusing on the success of a targeted number of individuals instead of blanketing it across all library users.” –MLA Judge

“I want to make sure I share just how absolutely fulfilling it is to offer this program to our patrons. When interviewing patrons for scholarships, you learn about all of the challenges and barriers they faced trying to get their high school diplomas. It is humbling to be a part of their journey and to witness them in their caps and gowns at the graduation ceremony. This program is an investment that pays dividends beyond what we put into it via funding or managing the program. Furthermore, managing the program is easy because of the amazing support team at Gale. I guess I am a bit biased toward this program because I have witnessed the joy of our graduates and it is remarkable.” –MLA Judge
