Gale is happy to announce that its In Context family of products will now provide shorter citation and bookmark URL links. What you’ll find is:
- Shorter URLs that provide users with a direct link to a Gale document or portal page.
- Users are taken directly into a single document or portal page without an authentication request.
- Multiple citation formats are available in the product citation tool to make it easier for users to cite their research.
- EZ Proxy information is now displayed in the citation URL when present in the school or libraries Gale Admin account.
Additionally, new and updated content has been released into many of the Gale In Context products. Some of these include:
Biography In Context has added new homepage spotlights featuring Civil Rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr.; Katherine Johnson, a former NASA scientist and one of the women featured in the film “Hidden Figures”; Golden Globe-winning actress Emma Stone; the late “Star Wars” actress Carrie Fisher; and Lady Gaga, who is scheduled to perform at this year’s Super Bowl.
Canada In Context has added spotlight pages featuring Laura Secord, Eden Robinson, and Dan Heatley, as well as new Canadian-focused portals on World War II and Drug Use, and updates to the Louis Riel, Terry Fox, and Vimy Ridge portal pages.
Global Issues In Context now has homepages that highlight Colombia, Gambia, migrants in Germany, alleged Russian hacking of the U.S. presidential election, and the Taiwanese conflict with China. Additionally, there have been more than 2,300 United Press International images added to the product.
Opposing Viewpoints In Context now has homepage spotlights that feature U.S. foreign relations, politics and the media, the new 115th Congress, STEM education, and flexible workplaces in addition to new portal pages on LGBT Rights and State Laws, Net Neutrality, and Sentencing and Prison Reform. Additionally, topics such as the presidential election process and ISIS have been updated and more than 140 new websites have been added related to such subjects as animal rights, bullying, and social media.
Science In Context has spotlights that feature climate change in the Arctic, artificial intelligence, stars, wetlands, and the latest news on the Zika virus. A new featured video shows how the recently launched Osiris-Rex spacecraft will chase asteroid Bennu and bring a sample back to Earth.
Student Resources In Context has added homepage spotlights featuring Donald Trump, Martin Luther King Jr., and Amelia Earhart, as well as new portals on Lyndon B. Johnson, Antarctica, Blizzards, and SpaceX. Additionally, updates have been made to several highly-searched portal pages, including Cyberbullying, American Dream, and Civil Rights.
U.S. History In Context features a spotlight video on the Emancipation Proclamation along with home page spotlights on Amelia Earhart, the gangster era, and women’s suffrage.
World History In Context features a spotlight video on the Battle of Stalingrad along with home page spotlights on the Berlin Wall, Galileo, and Joan of Arc.
