Yesterday morning, I had the honor of receiving a check from Gale, part of Cengage Group, for $8,796 from the proceeds of Cameron’s Collection and Cameron’s Camp for Wellness on the Gale eBooks platform. These collections are sets of eBooks curated by Gale in collaboration with The Cameron K. Gallagher (CKG) Foundation that help students better understand their mental health and provide guidance to strengthen their social and emotional learning (SEL) skills.
Since the collections launched in 2018, Gale has donated nearly $80,000 of the proceeds to the CKG Foundation.
I hold this partnership with such gratitude. The generous financial contribution to our work is so very much appreciated. The work that Gale and the CKG Foundation do to make sure each individual person knows they are not alone and there is light, hope, and help is critical. The fact that resources are available at any hour—right at your fingertips—is an amazing gift. Thank you, Gale, for knowing how critical accessibility is at any given moment in a student’s life.
I think about the education sales consultants out there every day offering a suite of resources to students across the nation. I hope all in the Gale family not only feel proud of this gift they offer to thousands of students, but I also hope they feel empowered to prioritize their own mental health. Students, teachers, administrators, sales consultants, everyone—we all have various levels of stress in our lives. We have no control over many of those stressors, but with awareness, understanding, and knowledge, we certainly can decide how we respond internally and externally. We get to determine our relationship to those stressors.
As a mother, I know what it is like to watch the suffering of a child. I know what it is like to feel lost and alone in my own struggles. With the support from Gale, the CKG Foundation can reach out a hand, walk beside, and guide thousands of teens to realize their worth. We offer real-life, in-the-moment coping skills desperately needed to navigate their often complicated yet sacred lives. We deliver on our mission to fulfill Cameron’s dream and legacy by being a positive force and cultivating awareness and understanding of teenage depression and anxiety.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart, and thank you from the CKG Foundation’s entire hard-working team. Most of all, thank you from that one person who is still walking on this earth today because of what we offer together as partners prioritizing mental health and wellness.
