In August, we shared how our content team continues to enhance Gale resources and introduce measures to eliminate implicit racial bias in Gale-curated content, and reaffirm our ongoing commitment to quality.

These efforts have continued, and we wanted to share a handful of recent content additions made to the Gale In Context family of products.

  • Alice H. Parker: African American who invented central heating.
  • Amanda Nguyen: Asian American social entrepreneur, civil rights activist, and the CEO and founder of Rise, a nongovernmental civil rights organization.
  • Candi Brings Plenty: Queer Indigenous, Two Spirit, Oglala Lakota Sioux. Leader and the founder of the Two-Spirit Nation camp at Standing Rock, one of three resistance camps of water protectors in the fight against the Dakota Access Pipeline.
  • Chella Man: Queer, transgender, deaf, Chinese, and Jewish artist based in New York City who works toward advocating for community and self-love.

  • Lori Locust: Tampa Bay Buccaneers assistant defensive line coach; she, along with assistant strength and conditioning coach Maral Javadifar, made history at the 2021 Super Bowl, becoming the first women to win the Super Bowl as coaches.
  • Swati Mohan: Indian American woman who is the guidance and controls operations lead and the mission commentator for the NASA Perseverance rover’s historic landing on Mars.
  • Sylvia Mendez: One of the first Mexican Americans to integrate California schools.
