Updates to My Account – Amended 11/06/18

By Gale Staff

Enhancements to improve your immediate online ordering experience are underway. We will be communicating additional enhancements as they roll out in a phased approach.

November 6 Update

Although critical issues have been resolved,

 • Wish List pricing and the ability to move items to the shopping cart have temporarily been suspended through November 12, 2018, as our development team works to improve functionality. To inquire about pricing or purchase items in your Wish List during this time, please download your Wish List and send to your Library Sales Consultant with your desired direction.
 • Slowness and intermittent errors have been reported by a handful of customers. The development team is actively working to optimize backend processing to improve performance. These issues are difficult to duplicate, so if you are able to share with Gale Customer Service, it would be most appreciated.

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your continued patience.

As of July 1, you will notice:

 • Quick and accurate invoice association
 • Streamlined checkout
 • A new look and feel with Gale branding. Please note, when you are in your Thorndike Press My Account, the Thorndike Press logo will be visible. If you do not see the Thorndike Press logo, you are in the Gale catalog.

Seven Reasons to Secure LegalForms in Your Library

By Holly Hibner and Mary Kelly

A common reference question received at public library reference desks is whether the library has legal forms. When you get that question as a generalist reference librarian (ie. not a law librarian…), it is very comforting to know that the Gale LegalForms resource is at the ready.

State-Specific
My library has access to the Michigan legal forms, so we know they are relevant to our state laws. There are categories like divorce, bankruptcy, power of attorney, and incorporation (among others). You simply choose a category and then choose from a list of available forms.  Each form gives a full description to help laypeople choose the right one. With one click, the form opens with spaces to click and fill in your own information like your name, city, and even case number. Forms are available in a variety of formats, including Microsoft Word, Rich Text, PDF, and sometimes even Word Perfect. The forms included in the database are official forms that law firms use, so you never have to wonder if they will be accepted by the court system.

Big Read, Big Print, Big Impact

By Mary Smith, Editorial Director, Thorndike Press

Thorndike Press is happy to announce The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien will be available in large print, October 10, 2017. This book was named one of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Big Read books.

This would be a great community read title as it appeals to a very large segment; community reads always add excitement and energy to any library program.  Many high schools use this title in their curriculum and for those of us over 50, the Vietnam War was a defining moment in our life.
