We’re thrilled to announce that Gale will release an enhanced user experience for the Gale Presents: National Geographic Virtual Library, including Gale Presents: National Geographic Kids, this summer. At that time, we’ll retire the current National Geographic Virtual Library experience. Links will seamlessly redirect to the new interface, which will include the following features:

Enhanced Advanced Search

The new Advanced Search interface will provide useful tips and information to meet researchers where they are and help them get the most out of their search experience. The interface includes a detailed Search Tips section as well as labels and tool tips that describe each search field and limiter.

Improved Accessibility

Maintained for web accessibility standards, this improvement will ensure access by users of all abilities.

Streamlined User Interface

Consistent with other Gale products, this enhancement will deliver an engaging experience that allows quick access to search tools and relevant content.

Optical Character Recognition (OCR) Panel

As a new option in the Explore Panel when you access a document, the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) feature allows you to see the machine-converted version of the text in an article.

Gale Presents: National Geographic Kids

This enhancement includes a new experience for Gale Presents: National Geographic Kids designed with the needs of students and educators in mind. Users will continue to have access to popular Gale tools, including:

  • Text-to-speech functionality
  • Citation tools

Plus, students and educators will now have access to additional tools and functionality, including:

New Student-Friendly Reader

Encourage students to freely explore rich National Geographic resources using an improved Reader that’s designed to increase student engagement.
