We are pleased to announce the release of the following enhancements to the National Geographic Virtual Library (NGVL) and National Geographic Kids. The following upgrades went live in both products on November 3, 2014:

  • The addition of ReadSpeaker text-to-speech technology to books and magazines in both the NGVL and National Geographic Kids, supporting differentiated learning and those with impaired vision.  This enhancement has been made in response to requests from customers as part of our continued commitment to delighting our users.

  • An updated Tools display, increasing the visibility of tools like print, cite, and email by making them always present at the top of the image viewer in the NGVL and National Geographic Kids. The updated display is similar to other Gale resources, creating a more consistent user experience.

  • Updated Term Clusters, including our new Tiles view, creating a new and useful way to view and navigate search results in the NGVL.
