Over the past several weeks we’ve added and updated content in many of your favorite Gale In Context databases. Take a look what’s now available for your studies.

Biography In Context

July has new homepage spotlights including:

  • Harper Lee, whose much-awaited book Go Set a Watchman debuts on July 14
  • Dr. Seuss the well-known children’s author has a new book What Pet Should I Get releasing during the month of July
  • General Martin Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and America’s highest ranking military leader
  • Marta, the Brazilian soccer star who made goal-scoring history in this year’s Women’s World Cup
  • Raven-Symoné, known for her roles on “The Cosby Show” and the Disney Channel, and now ABC’s “The View,” where she is the newest co-host
  • New featured homepage video: “American History: Declaration of Independence”.

Josephine Community Libraries: Providing Real Community Value

Josephine Community Libraries (JCL) increased its Gale database usage by 230% over previous years. By using public presentations with a ‘how to’ delivery style, JCL’s librarians are able to meet people where they are on topics they care about.

Under the umbrella of The Expanding Opportunities Program, funded by A Library Services and Technology Act, the mission of the program is to increase information literacy in Josephine County, Oregon, in the areas of employability, education, and entrepreneurship. The grant provides a full-time staff member to educate community members about the modern library available at their fingertips.

On October 31, Laura Damon-Moore, Co-Founder of Libraries as Incubators Project, shared her expertise on community outreach for the weekly Gale Geek. Improved Article Recommendation Comes to In Context

IN Context library resource research

The Gale In Context family of online solutions makes information discovery engaging, simple and fun. On July 2, the In Context experience will become even better with a new article recommendation feature, unique to Gale!

When a user is reading a reference article within any of the In Context resources listed below, this new feature highlights terms within the entry, and links those terms to additional relevant reference articles within the resource. Clicking on the link to related articles opens a separate tab or window containing the new content. Typically, related subjects or articles are found in sidebar navigation or require the user to execute separate queries. By embedding these related foundational articles throughout the reading experience, researchers can use this new tool to:
